Through the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) the American Job Center is able to award scholarships for training for in-demand occupations. These trainings are in areas including healthcare, manufacturing, truck driving, clerical, information technology and many more. Training can be for up to 2 years worth of education.
What does a WIOA Scholarship pay for?

Steps to Receiving a Scholarship
Step OneComplete the Intake Form
Please note, this is not the application form.
Step Two
Once the intake form is submitted an application and application checklist will be emailed to you.
- Applicants for CDL training will need to submit proof of a negative Drug Screening.
- Certain training programs may require you to provide an acceptance letter into the program.
Attend the Required Information Session
- Informational Sessions are held every Tuesday at 9:00 AM at the American Job Center 500 42nd Street, Suite #6, Rock Island, IL. 61201. Starts promptly at 9AM. You MUST be on time. Please plan to arrive at least 15 min. early for registration.
- Complete the Illinois Worknet packet
- Submit a copy of Interest Profiler results.
- Submit copy of resume.
- Submit the documents required for eligibility, which you will be notified via email what is needed for qualification.
When steps 1—4 are completed, your information will be given to a Career Planner for your interview. After the interview, your application and request will be evaluated and considered by the Training Panel. If you are approved you will be contacted by a Career Planner. If not found suitable for the program, then you will receive a letter. The panel only meets once a week, so length of time for this determination is based on when the panel meets.
