Bringing Digital Skills to Your Doorstep: Free Mobile Digital Literacy Classes

The American Job Center is excited to announce our FREE Mobile Basic Digital Literacy Class, which runs from February through June 2026, designed to meet people where they are—literally. Instead of asking you to travel across counties or navigate unfamiliar buildings, we’re bringing short, practical technology training directly into local communities throughout Henry, Mercer, and Rock Island counties.

These classes are hosted on location at a rotating lineup of city halls, county offices, libraries, and college facilities. Each session is placed strategically to make learning accessible, convenient, and community-centered. To find the class closest to you, simply check the calendar above, which is updated regularly with upcoming dates, times, and locations.

This class is built for adults who want to feel more confident using everyday technology—whether for work, education, or daily life. You don’t need prior experience, and you don’t need to bring anything with you. We provide all the equipment, including laptops and internet access, so you can focus entirely on learning.

Each Mobile Digital Literacy Class is:

  • Completely free
  • Limited to just 10 participants, ensuring personal attention and a comfortable learning pace
  • Only 2 hours long, making it easy to fit into a busy schedule

In those two hours, participants are guided through essential digital skills that matter right now—things like basic computer navigation, understanding online tools, and building confidence in a digital environment. The goal isn’t to overwhelm you with jargon or complicated software. It’s to make technology feel useful, approachable, and manageable.

The small class size is intentional. By keeping enrollment capped at 10 people, instructors can slow down when needed, answer questions as they come up, and provide hands-on support. It’s learning without pressure—and without the feeling that you’re “behind” everyone else.

This mobile approach reflects the American Job Center’s commitment to access and equity. Digital skills are no longer optional in today’s world—they’re essential. By offering these classes across multiple communities and removing cost, transportation, and equipment barriers, we’re helping ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate fully in today’s workforce and economy.

If you or someone you know could benefit from building basic digital skills in a friendly, supportive environment, we encourage you to explore the upcoming sessions. Check the calendar above to find the nearest Mobile Digital Literacy Class, choose a location that works for you, and reserve a spot early—classes fill quickly.

Technology doesn’t have to be intimidating. Sometimes it just needs to show up at your door, laptop included.
