American Job Center® is located at 500 42nd St. Suite 6 in Rock Island, Illinois and is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. American Job Center® has an affiliate location at 404 E. 3rd St. Kewanee, Illinois.
Our mission is to strengthen the workforce of Rock Island, Henry and Mercer Counties’ communities by transforming people and businesses into a comprehensive and easily accessible system that supports the development of a world-class workforce. American Job Center® provides access to a broad range of employment and education-related services by connecting the workforce to new opportunities and providing services to individuals and families in need.

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is landmark legislation that is designed to strengthen and improve our nation's public workforce system and help get Americans, including youth and those with significant barriers to employment, into high-quality jobs and careers and help employers hire and retain skilled workers. The Workforce WIOA was signed into law on July 22, 2014. WIOA is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy. Congress passed the Act with a wide bipartisan majority; it is the first legislative reform of the public workforce system since 1998.
Through WIOA, customers can:
Access the information and services they need through a "One-Stop" system.
Obtain training through individual accounts that allow participants to get scholarships for the training they determine best for them.
